ANGOUSTRINE RESEARCH TRIP

REFLECTION

The week in Angoustrine was extremely fun, interesting and we got to learn many new things. After we reached La Grande Maison Rouge, I liked learning about re-wilding and the techniques involved in it from Karina. My favourite part of the trip was the hike. I had a good time asking questions to Fred about the landscape, it’s ecological history and the small towns. We learned quite a lot about how the place became a border town between Spain and France.

I also had a great time learning about clay from Jaume and Nuria and I spent a major chuck of the last 2 days sitting outside in the serene atmosphere experimenting with different ways to show texture with clay. The final presentation with Flora was about the extremely hydrophobic nature of Rosemary Flowers and visualising it under multiple lens to highlight defence mechanisms seen in nature and other interesting properties of hydrophobic plants.

Overall, it was an intensive trip where I did not sit in one place much, but it was relaxing. It was my first time seeing snow and it was exciting. Being around nature and learning to incorporate it’s properties into design was a new way outside my regular routine to get inspired and creative.
